The Lands in the Sky pole stood at the entrance to downtown Suquamish from 1962 through 2005, when natural deterioration forced its removal. A new Welcoming Pole will be carved in the traditional Salish style, and once again provide a signature landmark in the center of the community. A monument honoring Chief Seattle will accompany the Welcoming Pole.
